People often ask us what makes Afrikat different.

After all, there are plenty of boat trips in Gran Canaria.

The truth is…

It might not be the boat.

It might not be the food or unlimited drinks.

It might not even be the beautiful coastline.

It’s how we make people feel.

For over 30 years, guests have stepped aboard as strangers and stepped off feeling like friends.

We think that’s what “More than just a boat trip” really means.

We hear it again and again from returning guests.

People don’t always know how to describe it…

But they know how it made them feel.

There is a kind of magic around Afrikat which makes our guests want to return time after time – some even joining us onboard numerous times during their 2 week holiday.

We hope you’ll feel like you’re talking to friends rather than making a booking.

When you arrive at the harbour…

We want you to feel genuinely welcomed.

Its like you are visting your family or friends – We hope Afrikat feels like a familiar warm hug that makes you feel special.  We want you to feel as though you’ve been invited onto someone’s boat, not simply joined another excursion.

This is how we explain it – If you’re looking for a quiet boat where everyone keeps to themselves…

Afrikat probably isn’t the right choice……..we are certainly NOT a party boat…

But we’re also not a boat where everyone disappears into their own little world.

Think of us more like a relaxed family gathering.

People chat………… People laugh…………….. Children make friends………….And before long…

Complete strangers are cheering each other on as they jump into the sea.

That’s the atmosphere people remember.  Of course…not everyone wants to be the centre of attention and that’s absolutely fine.

Some guests join in every activity.  Others are happiest with a cold drink, watching the world go by and smiling at everyone else’s fun.

There’s room for everyone aboard Afrikat.

Every week we welcome guests from all over Europe and beyond.

Different languages………… Different cultures………… Different ages.

But somehow, by the end of the day…

Everyone is simply part of Afrikat.

We intentionally allow more room per guest than many excursion boats because we believe comfort shouldn’t come at the expense of atmosphere.

And that means you can enjoy the atmosphere without ever feeling crowded.  Relax on your own sun cushion or relaxing chair, fiind a quiet corner, or join the conversation…..

The choice is yours.

You’ll notice we don’t allow reservations for the top deck……Why?

Because we love watching children wander upstairs to ask our Captain questions.  Or guests discovering a new favourite spot halfway through the cruise.

We think the whole boat should belong to everyone.

Afrikat was designed so that more people could enjoy a wonderful day at sea and that means wheelchair accessibility, wide walkways and accessible facilities including our wheelchair accessible toilet.

There is easy movement throughout the boat and this also means exceptional stability which so many guests appreciate because it makes the cruise wonderfully comfortable and so there is very rarely guest suffering from sea-sickness and we even have our favourite ladies in their 60´s Line-dancing along the wide walkways.

Our salon has air-conditioning so you can take a break from the heat of the Canarian sunshine and we even have free WiFi onboard if you’d like to share your holiday to social media while you’re still making memories.

People often tell us our crew are the reason they come back.

That’s the nicest compliment we could receive.  We simply try to treat every guest the way we’d like our own family to be treated.

With warmth, with kindness and with respect.

Because although you’re on holiday, we never know what someone else might be going through.

A smile, a conversation, a genuine welcome……..Sometimes they’re the things people remember most.

Our goal has never changed.

We want every guest to step off the boat feeling happier than when they stepped on.

If we’ve achieved that…then we’ve done our job.
